Balance is a crucial part of making a better swing. Here is a simple way to help improve your stability.

1. Buy a half foam roller (6x36) at a local sporting goods store or online (this one is from Amazon)
2. Position your feet so your arches are on top of the roller
3. Start by making half swings and work your way up to full swings

Many golfers have swings with more movement than they need. This exercise will teach you how to swing in balance while reducing unnecessary motion.
Happy Practicing!

How to Play from a Downhill Lie

When facing a downhill lie, the key is to position your upper body parallel to the slope. This will allow your swing plane to match the level of the ground. Here is a downhill lie checklist:

1. Use a wider stance for stability
2. Lean your shoulders with the slope (use your club to help - see picture)
3. The ball will go lower and farther so choose a club accordingly
4. Play the ball position in the middle of your stance
5. Use your practice swing to rehearse the motion and check your balance
6. When swinging, keep your shoulders parallel to the slope throughout

Happy Swinging!

Behind every great golf shot is a great routine. Your routine should consist of a few important components that will give you the best opportunity to succeed.

As John Wooden said, “Failing to prepare is preparing to fail.”
Practice your routine when you are at the range too!

Here are some of the necessary parts of pre-shot routine:
  • Identify a specific target from behind the ball (see picture)
  • Practice swing (the way you would with the actual shot)
  • Set the club down first by the ball to promote the proper distance from the ball and posture.
  • Deep Breath and Go!
