Align for Success!

CORRECT ROUTINE:
ALIGN THE CLUB BEFORE LINING UP YOUR FEET!
The pre-shot routine should consist of the player lining up the golf club BEFORE lining up the feet. On a daily basis, I observe students who line up their feet/legs BEFORE they line up the golf club. If our feet point at the target, the golf club will be aimed incorrectly. For example, think of railroad tracks and where they point. They cannot both be headed toward the same exact point. In this example, the golf ball and club are on one side of the tracks while the feet are on the other side. If the golf club is going toward the target, the feet MUST be pointed parallel left for right-handed golfers and parallel right for left-handed golfers.

Pay attention to your alignment next time you are at the course. Happy Swinging!

Practice Like You Play!

Here are a few ways to spend some purposeful time at the range:
1. Play holes on the range: envision playing holes at your home course. Hit the driver, fairway wood, iron, etc...
2. Practice your wedge game with intention. Hit each wedge switching targets and different length swings (1/4, 1/2, 3/4, full)
3. Change targets on each shot. We never have the same target twice on the course so switching often is more "course-like"

Each of these practice suggestions focus on variability and golf course situations. Try these next time you are at the range! Happy Swinging!

Checklist for the Sidehill Lie (ball below the feet):
1. Widen your stance for stability
2. Bend your knees to lower yourself to the same level as the ball
3. Aim for a curve (righties-aim left, lefties-aim right)
4. Take some practice swings to get used to the lie and figure out how much to bend
5. Stay balanced with knees flexed throughout the swing

Happy Swinging!
